Karimnagar: Burugupalli gram panchayat to perform funerals at Re 1
Burugupalli gram panchayat in Karimnagar adopted an innovative resolution to perform funerals at Re 1, covering all expenses for villagers. Sarpanch Dulam Kalyan Kumar initiated the scheme to help poor families facing hardships in performing funerals
Karimnagar: Burugupalli gram panchayat in Gangadhara mandal grabbed attention by taking an innovative decision in its first council meeting held on Monday. For the first time in rural areas, the newly elected gram panchayat body has adopted a resolution to perform funerals at Re 1. If anybody dies in the village, the gram panchayat will perform the funeral by covering all expenses.
It was the first resolution of the newly elected body, adopted after taking oath on Monday. Though the scheme has been implemented in Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, Burugupalli is the first village to have such a facility. Sarpanch Dulam Kalyan Kumar was the man behind this innovative decision. Poor people were facing severe hardships to perform funerals. To help them, the decision was taken.
