Karimnagar: District Collector RV Karnan asked candidates and political parties to submit details of expenditure incurred during the Huzarabad Assembly by-poll without fail.
The Collector organised a meeting with the representatives of various political parties at the Collectorate conference hall here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said contestant candidates should not make cash payments. Instead of cash, they should make payments through cheques, DDs, and online payment.
Candidates must have bank accounts and that should be zero balanced. Election expenditure transactions should be done only through that bank account.
Political parties should submit the list of star campaigners within one week after election notification was released, he advised and added that the wall posters and pamphlets used for election campaigns must be published along with the publisher’s name.
Details of expenditure should be submitted to election observers on a daily basis, he asked and informed that surveillance of flying squad teams, and Surveillance Squad teams would monitor poll expenditure of candidates.
Candidates having criminal background should publish the details of cases in newspapers, social media and websites besides informing the same to election authorities well in advance. Candidates and police parties must follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commissioner of Indian.
According to EC guidelines, there was permission to mobilise 1,000 people for outdoor meetings and 200 people for indoor meetings and 500 for normal meetings wherein star campaigners were participating.
There was no permission for road shows, bike, car and cycle rallies. Only 20 vehicles would be allowed to use by the candidate and his/her political party, he made it clear.
Advising the candidates and political parties to follow EC guidelines, he wanted to conclude the election campaign 72 hours before the polling.
Additional Collector Garima Agarwal, ZP CEO Priyanka, Deputy Transport Commissioner Chandrashekhar Goud, and representatives of various political parties participated in the meeting.
Earlier, the Collector examined Huzurabad by-election counting center in SRR Government Degree and PG College in Karimnagar.
Karnan along with Additional Collector GV Shyamprasad Lal, Additional DCP (law and order) S Srinvas visited SRR College and examined the college auditorium, indoor stadium, library and classrooms to store EVM machines and VV Pats and count votes scheduled on November 2.
Karimnagar RDO Anand Kumar, ACP Tula Srinivas Rao, Tahsildhar Sudhakar and others participated in the programme.
