Siddipet: The Karimnagar Milk Producer Company (KMPC) Limited, popularly known as Karimnagar Dairy, which is on an expansion mode, opened a Bulk Milk Cooling Unit (BMCU) at Erravalli village, Markook mandal in Siddipet district on Friday.

The Karimnagar dairy has embarked on an ambitious programme to increase local milk procurement from the existing 2 lakh litres per day to 5 lakh litres per day by setting up a mega dairy, which is all set for inauguration soon, in Nallagonda village of Thimmapur mandal in Karimnagar district.

Telangana State Forest Development Corporation (TSFDC) chairman Vanteru Prathap Reddy along with Telangana State Livestock Development Agency and Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao formally inaugurated the BMCU which has a capacity of 5,000 litres initially. Later, it will be increased to 10,000 litres depending upon the milk procurement in the village. This is the 21st BMCU of the Karimnagar Dairy.

Speaking on the occasion, Vanteru Prathap Reddy called upon the farmers to take up dairy units as alternate and regular source of income along with agriculture and to make farming profitable. Appreciating the Karimnagar Dairy for taking all measures for improving the rural economy through dairy units, he informed the dairy to extend its operations in Siddipet district by opening more BMCUs. He also reminded that the state government was taking all measures for increasing the income of the farming community by encouraging the farm activities and also dairy units.

Karimnagar Dairy Chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao has informed the farmers about the activities of Karimnagar Dairy and how it made strides with the support of the farmers during the last two decades. Saying that the Karimnagar Milk Producer Company limited was owned by the farmers, he said that the profits earned in the dairy would be shared among the farmers unlike the private dairies wherein the directors share the profits.

He said that they were setting up another BMCU in Ramunipatla village near Siddipet in the district and it would be commissioned very soon. Empowering the farmers about the importance of taking up dairy units, he said that the dairy unit alone would provide regular income to the farmer and also give nutritional food supplements to the entire family for a healthy living.

Managing Director Karimnagar Dairy P Shankar Reddy educated the farmers about the welfare schemes launched for the milk producers and the milking animals. Dairy Advisor V Hanumantha Reddy, ZPTC Embari Mangamma Ramachandram, MPP Pandu Goud, Sarpanch Bhagya Bikshapathi, Village Development Committee Chairman Krishna Reddy, Jagdevpur PACS Chairman Indrasena Reddy, Konda Pochamma Temple Chairman Upender Reddy and others were also present.
