Karimnagar: Karimnagar Dairy is committed to protecting the environment and is planting saplings on all its premises in the integrated Karimnagar district, said its chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao.

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, Rajeshwara Rao, along with managing director P Shankar Reddy, auditor Niranjana Chary and others, planted saplings on the premises of their unit in Karimnagar town on Monday.

Rajeshwara Rao said the Karimnagar Dairy is giving utmost importance to environmental protection through plantations on the premises of all their units such as bulk milk cooling units (BMCUs). Already, they had planted different varieties of saplings such as fruit-bearing at the existing 17 BMCUs and are planning to plant more at the 15 new BMCUs coming up in various parts of the integrated Karimnagar district and also neighbouring districts, he stated.
The company is also planning to take up a massive plantation at its mega unit of 3 lakh litres capacity coming up in Nallagonda village of Thimmapur mandal in Karimnagar district, he added.

To conserve water, the company is treating three lakh litres of wastewater by setting up a sewage treatment plant (STP) and reusing the water for saplings, gardens and landscapes.
Similarly, the dairy is also planning to set up the most advanced STP of five-lakh-litre capacity at the mega unit in Nallagonda, he maintained.

Karimnagar Dairy is also contemplating planting samplings on a large scale in villages by involving milk producers of the dairy and developing greenery by developing mini-forests through the Miyawaki method, Rajeshwara Rao said.
