Karimnagar: TRS activists, along with farmers, on Monday staged protest demonstrations in all the villages across the erstwhile Karimnagar district against the Union government’s decision not to procure paddy this Yasangi season.
Responding to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s call to stage State-wide protests against the Centre’s decision, the TRS workers along with farmers and other villagers took out rallies wearing black badges. The protesters took out funeral processions of Union government before burning the effigies of the Centre.
Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar took part in the protest demonstration in Mallapur of Dharmaram mandal of Peddapalli district. The Minister along with TRS activists and farmers staged a rasta roko on Rayapatnam-Karimnagar main road from where they reached the village in a rally.
In Jagtial, newly-elected MLC L Ramana, local MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dava Vasantha, municipal chairperson Boga Sravani and others burnt the effigy of the Central government at Chalgal after taking out a funeral procession.
While ZP Chairperson Nyalakonda Aruna took part in a protest in Konaraopet mandal, local MLA Ch Ramesh Babu participated in agitation in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district. TSCAB Chairman Konduri Rao took part in a protest in Ghambiraopet mandal.
MLAs Dasari Manohar Reddy (Peddapalli) and Korukanti Chander (Ramagundam) participated in agitation in their respective constituencies.
Agitating people found fault with the Union government for showing discrimination on Telangana farmers by denying to purchase paddy for this Yasangi season. They demanded the Centre to procure each and every grain produced by farmers in the Yasangi season.
