Karimnagar: Ex-Mayor files nomination for MLC seat as independent candidate

Karimnagar: Senior TRS leader and former Karimnagar Mayor S Ravinder Singh on Tuesday filed nomination papers for the erstwhile Karimnagar district Local Authorities’ Constituency as independent candidate. Ravinder Singh, who had aspired to the party ticket for the MLC election. But the party announced Thaniparthy Bhanu Prasad Rao and L Ramana as its candidates for LAC seats.

The first Karimangar Mayor after formation of Telangana State, Ravinder Singh was denied the post for the second term on the assurance of allocating MLC ticket. Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, he exuded confidence that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would announce his candidature for MLC election. When asked about his future course of action if the party denies ticket to him, he said there was no question of denying ticket to him. He would be in the contest whether the party would allocate ticket or not, he made it clear. Ravinder Singh said he would call for a press conference on Wednesday.
