Karimnagar: A farmer couple staged a protest against power supply disruption by staging a rasta roko along with their buffaloes on the main road in Ganneruvaram mandal headquarters on Monday.

The couple, Korivi Pochaiah and Susheela, owns a few acres of land and an agricultural pump set. One month ago, the electric wire supplying power to their agricultural fields snapped due to damage to an electric pole. Though they were making rounds of the electricity department, power connection was not restored so far. Enraged over the officials’ attitude, the couple staged a protest along with their buffaloes.

The couple alleged that officials were demanding bribe to restore the power connection. Stating that they were unable to supply water to cattle due to lack of power supply, they wanted the officials to restore electricity supply to their agricultural fields.
