Devotees, who stayed away from Ganesh celebrations last year due to Covid pandemic, participated in the celebrations in a big way.
Amid dancing to drum beats, devotees took out Ganesh processions by placing the idols in specially decorated vehicles and immersed them in water bodies by giving a farewell to Ganesha.
BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister along with Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana and others started Shobha Yatra by performing special puja at Old Bazar (No.1) Ganesh idol.
Later, the Minister along with Collector RV Karnan participated in Ganesh puja held at Tower Circle Ganesh pandal.
Meanwhile, Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar along with Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander and Ramagundam Mayor Dr Bangi Anil Kumar started a procession in Godavarikhani. MLAs, MLCs and other public representatives started shobha yatras in their respective areas.
All arrangements were made by the administration for immersion of Ganesh idols at water bodies. Besides arranging big and small cranes, lighting arrangements were also made at immersion points. Professional swimmers were also deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.
