Karimnagar: A gram panchayat has adopted an innovative method to ensure payment of long-pending property tax by establishment – dump garbage in front of their premises.
The Islampur gram panchayat in Gandadhar mandal, at its general body meeting held on December 22, took serious note of the defaulters and decided to take serious action against them to collect pending house taxes.
Yellampalli pump house has to pay Rs 18,69,447 followed by electric sub-station Rs 3,91,981 and Shivani MBA college Rs 2,06,708.
Implementing the panchayat’s decision, GP officials on Wednesday dumped garbage in front of Yellampelli pump house, sub-station and Shivani college.
Village sarpanch Vadluri Anitha categorically stated that there was no question of further tolerating pending property tax, and that they would use more serious methods to collect long pending taxes.
