Karimnagar Mayor Sunil Rao quits BRS, to join BJP
Mayor of Karimnagar Y Sunil Rao , whose tenure is to end on January 28 has resigned to the BRS and will be joining the BJP on Saturday
Karimnagar: Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, who has decided to join the BJP, resigned from the BRS party and the party’s primary membership. In this regard, he sent his resignation letter to the party president K Chandrashekahar Rao on Friday night.
Sunil Rao will be joining the BJP on Saturday. He will join the saffron party in the presence of the Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar at 12 noon at SBS function hall here.
The Mayor, in a statement released to the media on Friday night, thanked the people of Karimnagar town for extending their support to him during the last five years. He also thanked municipal council members, leaders, well-wishers for their support.
Sunil Rao, who became inactive in the party activities after BRS lost power in the state, has decided to join the BJP and prepared ground for it by developing closeness with the Union Minister Sanjay Kumar.
On Friday, Sunil Rao inaugurated various developmental programmes taken up under Smart City programme by inviting Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Since Karimnagar Municipal Corporation’s tenure is going to end on January 28, the Mayor inaugurated all developmental works on Friday.
