Karimnagar: Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao termed former Mayor S Ravinder Singh’s allegations levelled against TRS party as false and baseless. Ravinder Singh, who resigned from the TRS party on Thursday, alleged that Telangana betrayers have been given top priority in the party by neglecting the leaders who played a vital role in separate state agitation.
Reacting sharply on allegations, Sunil Rao, addressing the press conference here on Friday, found fault with Ravinder Singh for criticizing TRS party after enjoying all positions. Though Karimnagar Mayor post was reserved for general category in 2014, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had given the post to Ravinder Singh, who belonged to BC minority candidate.
When he was appointed as Mayor, Ravinder Singh had praised TRS party stating that Telangana protagonists were getting respect in the party. Now, he was criticizing the party as he was denied an MLC ticket. It was not proper on the part of the former Mayor to make such kind of indifferent statements. There was no truth in Ravinder Singh’s statement that he was betrayed by promising MLC ticket. Though nobody had promised him an MLC ticket, the former Mayor himself made publicity with an eye on power.
Referring Ravinder Singh’s statement that TRS was in the hands of Telangana betrayers, the Mayor questioned as to whether ministers Koppula Eashwar, and Gangula Kamalar, TS Planning Board vice-chairman Vinod Kumar, former MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, and MLAs were Telangana betrayers.
Being elected as corporator on TRS ticket, Ravinder Singh indulged in anti-party activities. In the 2018 Assembly elections, the former Mayor worked for the defeat of BC Welfare Minister G Kamalakar. Moreover, he also worked against the party in the recent Huzurabad by-election too. Ravinder Singh also indulged in anti-party activity by getting proposed to contest in MLC polls by BJP and Congress public representatives.
Stating that a number of senior leaders were not given opportunity so far, Sunil Rao said it was not possible to give posts to leaders in every election. Depending upon political situation and party needs, the Chief Minister would take decision to whom the opportunity should be given. When asked about whether TRS leadership was consulting MLC rebels to withdraw their nominations, he made it clear that they were not consulting anybody since the party was strong. He expressed hope that TRS candidates are going to win the poll with more than 1,100 votes.
