Karimnagar: Motorists cheated as toll collected manually and through Fastag at Renikunta toll plaza
Motorists were shocked by the 'double' collection of toll fee only after one particular person who noticed the mischief started questioning the staff manning the toll plaza on Sunday.
Karimnagar: Motorists taking the Renikunta toll plaza in Thimmapur mandal of the district are being taken for a ride by the contractor.
Though the toll fee gets deducted from the bank accounts of vehicle owners through the FASTag system, the staff at the toll plaza are also collecting the fee in cash stating that FASTag scanners were not working.
Motorists were shocked by the ‘double’ collection of toll fee only after one particular person who noticed the mischief started questioning the staff manning the toll plaza on Sunday.
Chidurala Rammohan was passing through the toll plaza at 12.36 pm, and the staff collected Rs 57 from him stating that FASTag scanners were not working. Rammohan was flummoxed when he received a mobile alert about the amount being from his bank account linked to the FASTag on his car. He noticed the message a couple of km away from the toll plaza.
A shocked Rammohan returned to the toll plaza and grilled the staff, who asked him to call the management on a particular mobile number and get the amount back. When he refused to call, the staff asked him to meet their manager.
Rammohan cross-checked with another motorist who had also just paid in cash and he too reported the same problem.
