Karimnagar: Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday advised the Karimnagar police not to cross their limits while handling people’s agitations.
“It is not proper for police to implement law differently for different people. The manner in which the police behaved with BJP president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar and other party workers while arresting Sanjay Kumar is objectionable and unethical,” the union Minister said, speaking to the media after meeting Sanjay at the Karimnagar District Prison.
The Central government, he said, has provided all facilities including water and power supply to farmers who were on agitation for one year in Delhi. The union government never mishandled the farmers, he said. Kishan Reddy later visited the MP’s camp office which was damaged in a clash between BJP workers and the police. He also spoke with Sanjay’s family members and party workers, who allegedly sustained injuries during the clash.
Kishan Reddy also found fault with the State government for disallowing the Jagarana Deeksha started by the BJP president demanding that the State government make changes to GO 317 and do justice to teachers and government employees.
Alleging that police attacked the BJP activists though the deeksha was being held in a peaceful manner, Kishan Reddy said: “Based on instructions from the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, police created a flutter at deeksha spot and registered false cases against Sanjay and other BJP workers.” ”
“Police stopped the deeksha under the pretext that it violated Covid norms. Are covid norms applicable only to Jagarana Deeksha and not applicable to Chief Minister’s office, house, and other government offices? Was a separate GO issued for deeksha,” He asked.
Stating that statehood for Telanganaa was achieved after a long struggle and sacrifices made by the youth, the union Minister said: “We have faith in the courts, and we will fight Sanjay’s case in courts as well as public domain.” He said he will file complaints with Lok Sabha Privilege’s Committee, Lok Sabha Speaker and Human Rights Commission.
