Karimnagar: To encourage reading habits and develop English language skills among students, a social activist Mohammad Azam distributed copies of Telangana Today newspaper to the students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalayam, Mankammatota here on Sunday.
A research scholar (English) from Kakatiya University, Azam, who conducts awareness programmes to educate the people on environment, education and other issues, was invited to give a lecture on communication skills to the students of KGBV on Sunday.
On this occasion, Azam distributed Telangana Today newspaper copies among the students and explained how to use newspapers in a proper way.
While addressing the students, he exhorted the students to inculcate the habit of reading newspapers and explained the importance of reading English newspapers in enhancing vocabulary, grammar and writing composition as well as getting command on English communication skills.
Explaining how the Telugu medium students find difficulty in coping with English terminology, and grammar, he said it was necessary to read English newspapers regularly to overcome the problem, gain confidence, content, and enhance vocabulary.
Students expressed their interest in learning communication skills through newspapers. Besides 150 students, KGBV principal Srilatha, teachers Mamata, Padma and others were present in the programme.
