Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said it was his aim to develop Karimnagar as a beautiful town and as a most auspicious tourism destination. The Minister and Irrigation special chief secretary Rajath Kumar and others inspected the site to start Manair River Front works downstream of Lower Manair Dam on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters at cable bridge, Kamalakar said that based on the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s instructions, they were going ahead with a plan to develop Karimnagar as a beautiful town and tourism spot. The main entrance of Karimnagar town would be developed beautifully. Informing that cable bridge is being constructed across Manair river in Karimnagar-Warangal old road, he said that dynamic lights are being arranged to the bridge, which would be available for the public by May this year.

On the other hand, the Manair river front, which is located in the entry point of the town, would attract the people moving in Hyderabad and Warangal routes. In the first phase of the Manair River Front project, a 3.75 kilometers distance area either side of the river in the downstream of Lower Manair Dam would be developed at a cost of Rs 410 crore. A 6.25 km distance area would be developed in the second phase. The Delhi based firm INS Consultancy would complete the works in two years.

As part of the project, parks, water fountains, theme parks, water sports, musical fountains, gaming zones, and gardens would be developed on either side of Manair river. Speed boats and cruise boats would be operated in manair river front since 12 to 13 feet height water would be available in the project throughout the year.

Informing that Karimnagar town got smart city statues because of the Chief Minister, he said the dream of Manair river front project is also going to be fulfilled only because of the initiative by Chandrashekahar Rao. Informing to call tenders for river front project on Vaikunta Ekadasi, he said that the works would be started by performing pujas with the Chief Minister after completion of tendering process. Rajath Kumar said that the Manair river front is going to be a pride for not only the state but to the entire nation. River front is going to be an entry point for Kaleshwaram project in the erstwhile Karimnagar district and it would become an auspicious tourism spot.

Earlier, the Telangana area used to appear like a desert. However, the geography of the state would be changed with the Kaleshwaram project and Manair river front.

Construction of 638 check dams has reached the final stage, he informed and added that another 500 check dams would be taken up in the state. In order to enhance the ground water table, check dams are being constructed. So far, the ground water table surged by 5 meter height, he informed. Later, Kamalakar and Rajath Kumar released the Manair river front design poster.

MLA Rasamai Balkishan, Collector RV Karnan, Irrigation officials Muralidhar, Shankar, Venkateshwarlu, Managing Director, Tourism department Manohar Rao, and others participated in the programme.
