Karimnagar: A video showing a leopard resting on the roadside went viral after some persons circulated it in WhatsApp groups claiming it to be from the outskirts of Karimnagar town.

It was also claimed that the video was from near the Bommakal flyover here and that it was shot on Thursday night. As the video went viral, people residing in the surrounding villages panicked and did not dare to pass through the area in the night.

Forest officials however clarified that the message with the video claiming it to be from Karimnagar was fake, and that the video was actually not from Karimnagar or even from Telangana.

The video is said to be from last year from a highway in Karnataka.
