Karimnagar: A woman, Katipalli Sandhya Rani, has alleged that she was tortured by the Jammikunta police in connection with a land dispute case.
Explaining her ordeal, Sandhya Rani said that one Enugu Jaipal Reddy was planning to occupy her mother Katepalli Lakshmi’s land.
In this regard, they lodged a complaint with Jammikunta CI Varaganti Ravi. However, the CI did not take any action despite their repeated appeals.
Recently, she along with other family members went to the land as the Tahsildar decided to measure the land. However, police allegedly misbehaved with her and other family members.
Besides arresting her brother, she was also beaten by the police. When she complained about her respiratory problem, she was taken to the government hospital. Unfortunately, she was not even allowed to attend nature’s call, she said, appealing to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to take action against the CI and other police personnel.
A social worker Sheik Sabeer Ali and Dalit leader Ambala Raju demanded the government to conduct a judicial enquiry into the issue.
