Karimnagar: Women on Tuesday staged dharna and a rasta roko in Sirsedu of Illandakunta mandal protesting against the allocation of Indiramma houses to ineligible persons.

When they tried to climb a nearby water tank, police foiled their attempt. The women alleged that the Congress government sanctioned houses to rich people by ignoring the eligible poor people. By dividing them into four groups, Congress leaders in the village had taken the initiative to allocate houses to their own people, the women alleged.

The Congress party, which came to power with the votes of the poor, was neglecting them after coming to power, they said.

Police convinced the agitating women to withdraw their protest.
