Karimnagar: Youngster attempts suicide alleging police harassment
A Karimnagar youth, Bandari Srinivas, attempted suicide by consuming poison after alleging harassment by Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam, his aide, and a Sub-Inspector. Srinivas named them in a video before the act. He is now under treatment at hospital.
Karimnagar: A youngster, Bandari Srinivas, attempted suicide by consuming rat poison after alleging harassment by the police.
In a selfie video recorded while taking the poison, Srinivas stated that Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam, Sub-Inspector Naresh and the MLA’s follower, Army Srinivas, were responsible for his death.
A native of Himayatnagar in Gandadhara mandal, Srinivas had requested the MLA to provide bus facility to his village. When the legislator failed to take any initiative, Srinivas posted a message on social media criticising him.
Following this, Army Srinivas allegedly called and abused him in filthy language. Srinivas retaliated with abuses of his own. Enraged, the MLA’s follower lodged a complaint with the police.
On Saturday, Mallial Sub-Inspector Naresh summoned Srinivas to the police station, where he was allegedly thrashed and verbally abused.
Upset over the humiliation, Srinivas attempted suicide by consuming rat poison at Kalpana Lodge, opposite Karimnagar Town-I police station, on Sunday night.
Police rushed him to hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
