Karnataka crowned champions at South Zone Aquatics Championship

Karnataka emerged overall champions while Telangana finished second in the South Zone Aquatics Championship at GMC Balayogi Stadium, Hyderabad. Kerala dominated water polo, while swimmers from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana also impressed across various categories in the regional competition

Karnataka crowned champions at South Zone Aquatics Championship
Telangana which finished runner-up in the South Zone aquatics championship receiving the trophy.

Hyderabad: Karnataka emerged overall champions while Telangana finished second in the South Zone Aquatics Championship at the GMC Balayogi Stadium aquatics complex here on Monday.

Alivelu Manga, President, Para Swimming Association of Telangana State, P Chandrashekar Reddy, President, TSA, and G Umesh, Secretary, TSA, graced the valedictory function.


The results:
Boys:
Water polo: Kerala 12 (Irfan Muhammed 5, V Visal 2) bt Karnataka 6 (Jayanth L Reddy 3, Surya Mosale 2).

Group I: 50m freestyle: 1. Ishan Das (TG) 24.95, 2. B Sreehari (Ker) 25.08, 3. Anish Aniruddha Kore (Kar) 25.30.

100m breaststroke: 1. Ganesh Chakradhar Jakka (AP) 1:08.28, 2. Tanuj Singh (Kar) 1:09.40, 3. Jordan Dominic Franklin (TG) 1:09.64.

Group II: 200m backstroke: 1. S Krish (Kar) 2:23.43, 2. Sachin Statik Suresh (TG) 2:24.45, 3. Y Nikhil (TN) 2:27.81.

Girls:
Water polo: Kerala 11 (Safwa Sakeer 5, S Ardra 2) bt Karnataka 8 (R Manya 2, Ishani Kiran 2).

Group II: 200m backstroke: 1. Shivani Karra (TG) 2:32.71, 2. Shreya Binil (Ker) 2:35.03, 3. Ayhni Belliappa (Kar) 2:36.33.

Group III: 400m freestyle: 1. Nayana A Madhyastha (Kar) 5:00.67, 2. R Videla (Kar) 5:00.77, 3. Tejashree Vidyasagar (TG) 5:21.12.
