Hyderabad: M Sai Karthikeya impressed with unbeaten 88 in Hyderabad’s 71-run win over United Arab Emirates in the opening match of the 47th All india Rajiv Gandhi Under-19 Twenty-20 League Cricket Championship in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Batting first, Karthikeya’s stellar knock, alongside A Vignesh Reddy’s crucial 40, powered Hyderabad to a total of 188/4 in 20 overs. In reply, UAE was bowled out for 118 in 19.2 overs, with Ashwad Rajiv (4/13) and Vignesh (3/10) causing major damage with the ball.


The championship features 11 teams divided into three pools- Pool A: United Arab Emirates, Karnataka, Bengaluru, Hyderabad; Pool B: Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu, Vidarbha, Maharashtra; Pool C: Bihar, Chennai, Telangana.

Brief Scores: Hyderabad 188/4 in 20 overs (A Vignesh Reddy 40, M Sai Kartikey 88, Vedas 2/19) bt UAE  118 in 19.2 (Vedas 36, Ritwik 30, Ashwad Rajiv 4/13, A Vignesh Reddy 3/10).
