Hyderabad: Commemorating its 10th anniversary, Naad Bhed Dance Studio, founded in 2015 in Secunderabad, will present ‘Katha 2025: A Tribute to Lord Jagannath & devotee’ at Ravindra Bharathi on August 23.
The visionary behind this tribute is Guru Archana Misra, a seasoned Kathak dancer from Berhampur, Odisha, who holds a Master’s in Performing Arts (Kathak) and has trained under legends like Pt. Birju Maharaj.
The epic tale of Bhakta Salabega, a 17th-century poet and devotee of Lord Jagannath whose unwavering faith transcended religious boundaries, will be presented through a Kathak dance drama.
Born around 1600 AD to Lalbega, a Mughal subedar, and a Hindu Brahmin widow in Odisha, Salabega was raised in a Muslim household but spiritually nurtured by his mother’s devotion to Lord Krishna and Jagannath. After being gravely wounded in battle, Salabega experienced a miraculous recovery attributed to chanting the name of Vishnu.
