Nizamabad: Dubbing A Revanth Reddy as “flight mode Chief Minister”, BRS MLC K Kavitha criticised him for his frequent trips to Delhi without securing any benefits for the State. She questioned whether the State government was being run from Hyderabad or Delhi.

“In the last 15 months, the Chief Minister has visited Delhi 40 times, but has achieved nothing for Telangana from the Centre. He seems to require permission from his Delhi bosses to take even the smallest decision,” she said.

Addressing an Iftar party at the Jama Masjid in Banswada on Monday, Kavitha declared that the BRS strongly opposed the proposed amendments to the Wakf Board Act by the Centre. Asserting that minority welfare and development were only possible under the BRS leadership, she vowed to fight for the welfare and rights of minorities.

Criticising the Congress government, she raised concerns over increasing communal tensions in Telangana. She reminded that there were no communal clashes in Telangana during the decade-long rule of the K Chandrashekhar Rao government. She blamed Revanth Reddy over his failure to review and address the issue, but instead, choosing to impose the prolonged internet shutdown in Jainoor. She also condemned the lack of compensation for the victims and failure to take strict action against the perpetrators.

Kavitha also hit out at the Congress for failing to fulfill its poll promises to minorities. She accused the government of stopping the Ramzan Tohfa scheme and not utilising even 25 per cent of the budget for minority welfare. She demanded immediate disbursement of fee reimbursement arrears, pointing out that “not a single rupee” had been released for students in the last 15 months.

Targeting Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, who switched to Congress and became an advisor, Kavitha questioned his silence on irrigation issues and minority welfare. She lambasted the Congress for failing to deliver on its promise of Rs 1.6 lakh and a tola of gold under Shaadi Mubarak. She also questioned the Chief Minister about the massive debt of Rs 1.58 lakh crore that the State had incurred, without any of the promised benefits being provided to the people.

Former MLA Bajireddy Govardhan and other BRS leaders were also present.
