Kavitha calls upon NDSA to respond to SLBC roof collapse in Telangana

She expressed deep concern over the accident that took place shortly after work resumed. Kavitha described the tunnel roof collapse and the resulting injuries to the workers as highly unfortunate. She also pointed out that during K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure as Chief Minister, a 10-kilometre stretch of the tunnel was excavated without any such incidents.

Hyderabad: Expressing shock over the incident of roof collapse in the SLBC tunnel project, BRS leader and MLC, K Kavitha on Saturday called upon the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) to address the incident.

She voiced her concern over the accident that occurred soon after resuming work. Kavitha said the collapse of the tunnel roof and the subsequent injuries to the workers were highly unfortunate. She noted that during K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s tenure as the Chief Minister of the State, a 10 kilometre stretch of the tunnel was excavated without any such incidents.

In contrast, the Congress government had only resumed work four days prior to the collapse, raising questions about the reasons behind this sudden tragedy and who should be held accountable.

Kavitha emphasized the urgent need for the NDSA to respond to this incident and ensure that stringent safety measures were initiated to prevent such accidents in the future. She highlighted that over nine kilometers of the tunnel still need to be excavated and that it was crucial to take all necessary precautions to avoid further mishaps.

She also demanded that the government provide the best medical treatment to those injured in the accident.
