Jagtial: BRS MLC K Kavitha has demanded that the State government provide a better diet as per the newly launched common menu and enhanced diet that the government has announced to students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in the State.

Stating that it was unfortunate that KGBVs were excluded from the recent menu and diet changes, she pointed out that there were 472 KGBVs in the State, she wanted students in them as well to be provided with nutritious food. Kavitha along with former ZP chairperson Dava Vasantha visited the KGBV in Sarangapur mandal on Sunday. She toured the school premises besides the kitchen where she interacted with women engaged in food preparation.

Interacting with students, she enquired about the quality of food and other facilities being provided to them in the hostel. She asked the school authorities to provide quality food to students and not to show any negligence.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had in the past promised to regularize the services of teachers working in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Schools. She demanded the government to regularize all those teachers working in SSA schools. The concept of Gurukuls, launched by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, should not be spoiled, she said, asking the government not to compromise in providing quality food to students.
