Hyderabad: BRS leader and MLC K Kavitha has strongly countered allegations made by Congress leaders regarding Telangana’s financial state under Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s leadership.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Kavitha dismissed claims that the State was burdened with a debt of a whopping Rs.7.5 lakh crore during Chandrashekhar Rao’s decade-long tenure. She labeled the allegations as baseless and misleading. She highlighted that, according to budget figures presented to the house on Wednesday, the Congress government had spent Rs.30,000 crore on debt servicing in its first year of governance, including part repayment of the principal amount also.
Kavitha accused the Congress leadership of misrepresenting facts to tarnish Chandrashekhar Rao’s reputation, emphasizing that the State’s accumulated debt currently stood at Rs 4.37 lakh crore. Of this, Rs 1.58 lakh crore was borrowed during the tenure of the current Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
