Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president and BRS MLC K Kavitha urged newly appointed BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao to press the Centre for immediate Presidential assent to the BC reservation bills. She reminded that the Telangana Assembly and Council had passed two bills providing 42 per cent reservation for BCs in education, jobs and local bodies.
In an open letter to Ramchander Rao, Kavitha reminded that the BC reservation was a long-pending and legitimate demand of OBCs, especially in Telangana. She pointed out that after sustained movements led by Telangana Jagruthi and the United Phule Front (UPF), the State government had introduced and passed two bills in both Houses of the legislature.
“It has been a long time since the bills were sent for the Presidential approval, but there has been no progress,” she said, adding that the BJP, if truly committed to the cause of OBCs, must act now.
The BRS MLC said the responsibility of getting the bills cleared by the Centre now lies with Ramchander Rao and urged him to convince the Union government to clear the bills without further delay. She asked him to send a strong message to the BC community that the BJP stands in support of their rightful share in political and social representation by getting the bills approved.
