Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately increase the supply of Remdisiver injections and enhance the allocation of oxygen to Telangana, considering the inflow of covid-19 patients into the State capital for better treatment. The Chief Minister called Modi, after he returned to Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday and pointed out that even the allocated quantity of oxygen from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka was not reaching Telangana.

During his call with the Prime Minister, CM K Chandrashekhar Rao mentioned that many covid patients from the neighbouring States were rushing to Hyderabad for treatment, due to which the health infrastructure in State capital was under tremendous stress leading to acute shortage of Remdisiver and Oxygen in the hospitals.

Chandrashekhar Rao asked the Prime Minister to allocate at least 500 Metric tonnes of oxygen instead of the current allocation of 440 MT every day. Similarly, the State was getting only 4900 doses of Remedisiver per day, which should be increased to a minimum of 25,000 dosses, he said. The corona vaccine dose allocation should also be enhanced to two lakh to 2.5 lakh doses every day, he told the Prime Minister, according to a communication from the CMO here on Thursday.

Immediately after the CM spoke to Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal called up Chandrashekhar Rao to assure that the immediate measures would be taken up to meet the State’s demands in respect of Oxygen and Remedisvir doses. The Union Minister assured the Chief minister that oxygen would be arranged from other Eastern states also.

The Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao held a detailed meeting on the prevailing situation arising out of spread of coronavirus. He returned to Paragathi Bhavan after recuperating from coronavirus and immediately called for a meeting to review the prevailing situation.

The Chief Minister also made it clear that the Government would not impose lockdown in the state, which would only paralyse life and lead to collapse of State’s economy.
