Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao said the ruling Congress government was ignoring the interests of Muslims in the State.
Speaking after participating in an Iftar party in Gajwel on Monday, Harish Rao said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had given due respect to Muslims by making Mohd Mahmood Ali a Deputy Chief Minister in his Cabinet. However, the Congress failed to accommodate even one person from the minority community in the Cabinet.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was preparing to merge minority residential schools into integrated schools, which would do a great injustice to minorities, he said, also pointing out that the Congress had stopped distributing Ramzan gifts which the BRS government had introduced.
Harish Rao said the government could not spend Rs 1,000 crore on minorities welfare even though they allocated Rs 3,000 crore in the current fiscal.
Recalling the works the BRS government took up in Gajwel, he said Chandrashekhar Rao had built a Shaadi Khana by spending Rs 4 crore. He had developed Gajwel into a model constituency in development with multiple works.
Condemning the comments of Revanth Reddy on Gajwel, Harish Rao said Chandrashekhar Rao had changed the face of Gajwel in 10 years. The BRS government supplied drinking water to every nook and cranny through Mission Bhagiratha. He also recalled how Chandrashekhar Rao invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Komatibanda to inaugurate Mission Bhagiratha.
