Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday condoled the demise of CS Soundararajan, chief priest of Sri Balaji Temple at Chilkur, popularly known as the Tirupati of Telangana. He termed his death as an irreparable loss to the spiritual world and extended heartfelt condolences to his family and followers.

In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao called Soundararajan a people’s priest who combined spiritual service with social responsibility. He said Soundararajan earned widespread respect by upholding traditional Hindu values while promoting equality and inclusiveness in public life. He stated that Soundararajan’s approach to priesthood and his commitment to spiritual service would serve as an example for future generations choosing the vocation.

Calling his death a significant loss to the Hindu spiritual community, the BRS chief conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family, devotees and well-wishers, and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao also mourned the passing of Soundararajan, calling it deeply saddening. He recalled the priest’s role in the growth of the Chilkur temple and his guidance to lakhs of devotees over the years.

He said Soundararajan went beyond routine religious rituals and contributed to social harmony through initiatives such as campaigns against superstition and programmes like Dalit Govindam. He described him as a symbol of humility and service.
