Finance Minister T Harish Rao addresses a gathering during a programme organised on the eve of Dasrathi's birth anniversary in Siddipet on Thursday
Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao drew inspiration from legendary writer Dasarathi Krishnamacharya’s words “Naa Telangana Koti Rathana Veena” to bring one crore acres of land under irrigation by taking up several irrigation projects.
Participating in the birth anniversary celebrations of Dasarathi at the District Library here on Thursday, the Minister said they were further aiming to bring 1.25 crore acres under cultivation with the objective of ushering prosperity in the lives of farmers.
Stating that Telangana farmers produced three crore metric tonnes of paddy during the year 2020-21 crop season because of the efforts of the State government, Harish Rao said the government has been constantly working for the all round development of the State and its people. “The word ‘drought’ has been erased from Telangana’s dictionary since all the water bodies in the State were brimming with water all round the year,” he said.
Stating that they had recruited 1.32 lakh employees in various departments since State formation, the Minister said that they would soon issue notifications to recruit over 50,000 employees. “The launch of Telangana Dalith Bandu is another strong step towards empowerment of Dalits in the State,” he said.
With the government gearing up to issue notifications, the Minister suggested that the Libraries department make contemporary books available in public libraries, and assured of sanctioning the necessary grants from the Finance department.
