KCR is a role model: Filmmaker Narayana Murthy
He said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had emerged as a role model for others in the country with the implementation of Rythu Bandhu scheme in Telangana State.
Hyderabad: Film director R. Narayana Murthy on Thursday said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had emerged as a role model for others in the country with the implementation of Rythu Bandhu scheme in Telangana State.
He said the Central Government’s proposed new Agriculture laws and amendments to the Electricity Act were not in the interest of farmers. “For the past eight months, farmers have been opposing the new farm laws and proposed amendment to the Electricity Act,” Narayana Murthy said while promoting his new film ‘Raitanna’ scheduled for release on August 14.
Addressing the media, the film director said despite Covid-19 pandemic, farmers across the country had continued farming and the Central government’s moves would not be beneficial to farmers. In Bihar, after the markets were abolished, farmers are struggling a lot as minimum support price was not being extended to them, he said, adding that subsequently many farmers had turned into farm labourers in the State.
Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy appealed to the people to watch ‘Raitanna’ as it portrays the bond between a farmer and farming. The movie was made to create awareness among people on various aspects and any attempt made for welfare of the society should be encouraged, he said.
In the present scenario, when commercial aspects were driving many film makers, it was good that Narayana Murthy continues to make films that depict farmers plight and the measures to be taken to address their issues, he added.
