Yadadri-Bhongir: Film actor R Narayana murthy on Sunday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was the only leader in the country to take up a series of welfare schemes for the benefit of farmers, and in the process, restoring the past glory of agriculture.

Speaking at a media conference at Yadagirigutta, he said the movie ‘Rythanna’ produced by him was not against the Chief Minister. It was against the new farm laws brought by the Centre at the cost of interests of farmers. Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima and irrigation facilities have brought revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector that ensured a dignified life for the farmers, he said. Mission Kakatiya also rejuvenated village tanks, which against was a boost to the agriculture sector, he added. Similarly, Mission Bhagiratha was ensuing supply of safe drinking water to every household in the State, he add.

Urging the Centre to withdraw the new farm laws, he said thousands of farmers committed suicide during the tenure of Congress governments in the country. He wanted the State government to implement the recommendations of Swaminathan Committee.
