Hyderabad: The State government’s welfare programme of distributing KCR kits, consisting 16 necessary items to keep new born babies warm and hygienic, is yielding good results, especially in terms of registering highest growth rate in institutional deliveries in the country.

Industries Minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday said thanks to KCR kits, institutional deliveries increased by 22 percent in the State and it was highest in the country. In his tweets, he said the institutional deliveries increased by 22 percent (from 30 percent in 2014 to 52 percent in 2021) in last seven years. Similarly, Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) have reduced much below the national average.


“MMR has reduced from 92 to 63 (national average is 113). IMR has reduced from 39 to 23 (national average is 42),” he tweeted.

Stating that International Women’s Day was just three days away, he said under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana was at forefront when it comes to women’s welfare, safety and empowerment. One such initiative was KCR kits, he added.

The Minister further tweeted, “long with KCR kit, which has 16 items necessary for the mother and child, a financial benefit (Rs.13000 for female child and Rs.12000 for male child) is also provided. After delivery, the mother and child are dropped at home in Amma Oodi vehicles, more than 300 such vehicles introduced.”
