Khammam: K Chandrashekhar Rao is the only Chief Minister in the country who was giving priority to the welfare of poorer sections, stated Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
The minister distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques to beneficiary families by visiting their homes riding on motorbike here on Monday. He distributed the cheques to 574 beneficiaries in 28 municipal divisions.
He also presented sarees to beneficiaries at his own expense. In a two-day programme Ajay Kumar was scheduled to 233 Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques worth Rs 2.23 crore and 351 CMRF cheques worth Rs 1.45 crore on Monday and Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister noted that no other State country has cared for the poor families. Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques have helped the poor parents to marry-off their daughters in a respectable manner and without falling into debt trap.
Ajay Kumar said that the Chief Minister was clearing the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) applications on priority basis to offer succour to those who spent huge amounts on medical care.
Mayor, P Neeraja, Khammam Agriculture Market Committee Chairman Lakshmi Prasanna, Khammam urban tahsildar Shailaja and others were present.
