Hyderabad: BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday paid rich tributes to Chityala (Chakali) Ailamma on her 130th birth anniversary. Terming her a symbol of courage and democratic spirit in Telangana, he said Ailamma’s fight against the feudal system during the monarchy inspired Bahujan communities and women to resist injustice.
He said Ailamma’s struggle in the Telangana armed struggle was a landmark in awakening self-respect and democratic consciousness among the oppressed. He stated that Ailamma’s life remains a guiding force for Telangana society to resist anti-people policies and uphold democratic values.
He asserted that the best way to honour her legacy was to continue the pro-people policies and welfare schemes implemented by the previous BRS government over the past decade.
