Hyderabad: BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid rich tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar on the eve of his birth anniversary on April 14. He recalled Ambedkar’s role as the architect of the Constitution and a champion of social justice.
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao described Ambedkar as a visionary who fought for equality beyond caste, religion and gender, and laid the foundation for a just and inclusive society. He said the Constitution framed by Ambedkar continues to guide India’s social, political and economic systems.
He recalled that Telangana State was created through Article 3 of the Constitution. He credited Ambedkar for strengthening the federal structure of the country.
The former Chief Minister said the previous BRS government drew inspiration from Ambedkar and launched initiatives to promote social equity. He said schemes like Dalit Bandhu were aimed at empowering Scheduled Caste communities by providing financial assistance and encouraging them to become entrepreneurs. He added that measures were also taken for the welfare of Backward Classes and women, along with the implementation of the SC/ST Sub-Plan.
Chandrashekhar Rao recalled the construction of the State Secretariat named after Ambedkar and the installation of his 125-foot statue in Hyderabad as symbols of respect to his legacy. He stressed that true tribute to Ambedkar lies in continuing efforts towards social justice and upliftment of marginalised communities.
