Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao is all set to lay the foundation stone for the party office in New Delhi on September 2 at 12.30 pm. All arrangements have been made for ‘Bhoomi Puja’ (groundbreaking).

The ceremony will be attended by party’s elected representatives, including Ministers, MPs, MLCs, and MLAs, as well as TRS State Executive Committee members.

Party sources said the establishment of the party office in Delhi during its 20th anniversary year had a lot of significance. The new building is being designed to cater to the needs of TRS leaders and activists visiting New Delhi on any work. The TRS president himself is overseeing the design and execution of the project, which is being planned in a manner that would stands out as a symbol of self-respect for the people of Telangana. It would also be accessible to the people of the State who are in Delhi, during distress.

“The building design is likely to be on the lines of the party headquarters in Hyderabad, but it will have better facilities. As per preliminary designs, the party office will have 10-15 rooms, kitchen-cum-dining area, huge conference hall and also offices for the party president and other members of the State Executive Committee as well as the party office in-charge among others,” a TRS general secretary told ‘Telangana Today’.

As per the existing norms, all political parties with a minimum of seven members in the Parliament are eligible for allotment of land from the Centre for their party office in Delhi. With the TRS having 16 MPs in the Parliament, the Union government allotted 1,100 sqm (1,315 sq.yards) of land to the TRS party office with two blocks admeasuring 550 sqm each in Vasanth Vihar area. The construction is likely to be completed in less than a year.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is scheduled to leave for Delhi on September 1 afternoon from the Begumpet airport by a special flight. After participating in the foundation-laying ceremony in Delhi on September 2, he is scheduled to return to Hyderabad on September 3 afternoon. Arrangements have been made for the travel of nearly 250 TRS leaders to attend the event.

The party leaders said the ceremony would be a low-key affair considering the Covid-19 norms in Delhi. “The gathering will be minimal and in strict adherence to the Covid protocol. We have already sought necessary permissions from the authorities concerned in Delhi,” said another TRS leader.
