Mahabubnagar: Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was striving for financial empowerment of BCs, STs and SCs in the State.

Towards this, the Chief Minister has introduced reservations in allotment of wine shops in the State, he said adding “No other State has introduced such reservations in the country,”

Addressing media persons here on Monday, the Excise Minister said the decision taken by Chief Minister was historic and in a span of two months, reservations were being implemented in allotment of wine shops in the State.

Of the 2,620 wine shops, reservations were being implemented in sanctioning 756 shops, he said. Among these, 363 shops were reserved for Goud community, 262 for SCs and 131 STs, he said.

The State Government has not revised application fee or license fee. The number of shops were increased slightly, he informed.

One applicant- one shop rule has been abolished and the State Government has initiated measures to curb drugs and illicit liquor menace, he added.

“Telangana Government is committed for the welfare of all castes and communities. We thank Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for introducing reservations in allotment of wine shops,” said Srinivas Goud.
