Khammam: Telangana government has emerged as a role model in the implementation of welfare schemes, stated Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar. He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s development and welfare initiatives were being appreciated across the country and many governments in other States were emulating them.
Ajay Kumar along with ZP Chairman Lingala Kamaraj distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques to beneficiaries at their doorsteps in several villages of Raghunathapalem mandal in Khammam Assembly constituency on Tuesday.
As many as 32 poor families were given the cheques in Regulachelaka, Koyachelaka, Kotapadu, Chimmapudi, Papatapalli, Budidampadu, Manchukonda, Puvvada Nagar, Raghunadhapalem, Chintagurthi, Ganeshwaram, Vepakuntla and VV Palem villages.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Minister informed that financial assistance to newly married women under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes started with Rs 50, 000 and later increased to Rs 75, 000 and now an amount of Rs 1,00,116 was being given.
Ajay Kumar stated that the distribution of cheques at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries gave him immense satisfaction. The government schemes had made numerous families financially strong during the past seven years.
Over 5,000 families have benefited from Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak scheme in Khammam Assembly constituency. So far, Rs 50 crore has been distributed under the scheme, which no other government was implementing, he revealed. Raghunathapalem ZPTC member Maloth Priyanka, MPP Bhukya Gowri, SUDA director Veeru Naik, Market Committee vice chairman, K Venkateshwarlu and others were present.
