Khairatabad Ganesh to receive 50-kg ladacdu from Tapeswaram

A 50-kg laddu prepared in Tapeswaram, East Godavari district, will be offered to the Khairatabad Ganesh idol during the festival. Artisans observed Ganapati Deeksha while preparing the laddu, which is scheduled to reach Hyderabad by road on Monday.

Hyderabad: Khairatabad Ganesh will receive a laddu weighing about 50 kg from Tapeswaram in East Godavari district for the Ganesh festival.

Proprietor of Tapeswaram-based Sri Bhakthanjaneya’s Suruchi Foods Units, PVVS Mallikarjuna Rao, in the year 2010 started the tradition of presenting a free 500 kg laddu to Khairatabad Ganesh and has since offered laddus of varying sizes every year.

Mallikarjuna Rao told ‘Telangana Today’ that before preparing the sacred laddus at a specially built pavilion on Suruchi premises in Tapeswaram, artisans observed Ganapati Deeksha, wore separate attire and abstained from alcohol, meat and footwear for weeks.

He said the laddus were made using pure ghee without artificial preservatives and would remain naturally fresh and sweet. They will also be distributed to Ganesh pandals in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Rao said a Tapeswaram laddu weighing about 30 kg would also be offered to Hyderabad Police Academy.

Khairatabad Laddu from Tapeswaram is scheduled to reach Hyderabad by road on Monday, Rao said. Every precaution would be taken during the long-distance journey to ensure it arrived intact, without cracks or damage, he added.
