Khammam Collector asks officials to expedite Gollapadu channel works
District Collector VP Gautham told engineering officials to submit a comprehensive action plan for the works related to the STP and speed up the plant works at the earliest
Khammam: District Collector VP Gautham inspected Gollapadu channel modernisation works in Khammam on Friday and directed officials to complete pending works at the earliest.
He along with Municipal Commissioner, Anurag Jayanthi visited Kalvoddu, Sundaraiah Nagar and Srinivas Nagar where the channel modernisation works were under progress. He inspected the sewage treatment plant (STP) near Munneru stream at Srinivas Nagar.
Gautham told engineering officials to submit a comprehensive action plan for the works related to the STP and speed up the plant works to complete its construction as soon as possible by engaging additional labour.
As part of the Gollapadu channel modernisation works, care should be taken to ensure that there would be no stagnation of sewage water in the areas along the channel in future. Immediate steps have to be taken to develop parks and install fencing wherever the pipeline works have been completed, he said.
2000 acres to be pooled under LPS
Later, Gautham held a meeting with revenue and municipal officials on Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), which he said was aimed at promoting planned development in villages and towns.
He told the tahsildars to submit proposals by identifying 250 acres of land in each mandal with an objective of pooling an extent of 2000 acres of land across the district. Priority should be given to the lands located on highways.
The Collector explained that permissions would be accorded quickly to the newly proposed layouts which would be developed by the government under land pooling scheme. It would be beneficial for the land owners as the land value appreciates quickly.
Farmers and owners of non-agriculture lands have to be educated about the benefits of the LPS and encourage them to hand over their lands for development under the scheme, Gautham suggested.
