Khammam: A farmer from Rejarla village in Sathupalli mandal, Srinivas Reddy, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide, allegedly due to harassment from Congress leaders who encroached part of his house site. While Srinivas Reddy was battling for life in the hospital, the police are said to have forcibly taken his wife to the police station for challenging the encroachment of the land and the fake documents created by the encroacher.
The condition of Srinivas Reddy after the suicide bid is said to be critical. He was shifted to the district headquarters hospital for better treatment. He was being harassed allegedly by one Subba Reddy, a follower of Congress MLA Ragamayi’s husband Matta Dayanand. Subba Reddy had allegedly created fake documents and laid a road occupying Srinivas Reddy’s house site.
Subba Reddy was allegedly threatening and harassing Srinivas Reddy’s family for quite some time. Six months ago, the police arrested Srinivas Reddy’s wife in connection with the land dispute. Challenging the arrest, Srinivas Reddy filed a court case. Despite the ongoing court case, the police arrested Srinivas Reddy’s wife again, according to reports.
