Khammam: Celebrations have taken place here on Wednesday over the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s statement on offering salaries to SERP and MEPMA workers on par with government employees. A large number of Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Mission for Elimination Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEMPA) and Indira Kranti Patham (IKP) workers gathered at Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar’s camp office at VDOs Colony and shouted slogans hailing the Chief Minister.
They performed palabhishekam to Chandrashekhar Rao’s portrait, distributed sweets and burst crackers. SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, Mayor P Neeraja, senior TRS leader Gundala Krishna, TRS city president P Nagaraju joined the celebrations.
The workers expressed pleasure at the Telangana government’s decision to increase the wages keeping in view the welfare of the employees and their families. They expressed gratitude to IT Minister KT Rama Rao and minister Ajay Kumar for their efforts in raising salaries.
The Chief Minister’s decision has brought cheers to thousands of MEPMA, IKP workers and their families. The government’s decision to reinstate field assistants and absorb village revenue assistants (VRAs) in the irrigation department was a timely decision, Krishna said.
Similarly, MGNREGS field assistants celebrated the Chief Minister’s announcement in the Assembly on Tuesday that the field assistants would be taken back to work. They performed palabhishekam to the Chief Minister’s portrait as a mark of gratitude.
