Khammam: Land acquisition for the construction of the Khammam Fort ropeway has been completed and work will begin within a week, District Collector Anudeep Durishetty said on Saturday.
The Collector, along with Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Agastya, inspected the ropeway construction site and the Jafar Bavi beautification works. All resources required for the project have been arranged, he said.
Durishetty instructed tourism department officials to ensure speedy completion of the ropeway works, which are being taken up at a cost of Rs 29 crore. The project will be executed by Conveyor and Ropeway Services Private Limited, Kolkata.
He further stressed that, along with enhancing greenery, a detailed plan must be prepared to define the type of construction and locations. Maintenance, cleanliness and security measures should be ensured at the fort. The Collector also suggested attractive lighting in the evening to draw more tourists.
