Khammam: The IT Hub in Khammam has busted many myths and impacting socio-economic development here, noted Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
It is a common notion that tier-2 cities lack a skilled talent pool, communication skills, infrastructure like space and internet, and quality of life for a skilled workforce. But all such myths are broken with the success and growth prospects of the IT Hub, he said.
350 IT professionals made
He informed that the IT Hub, which was established in December, 2020, has become a model for tier-2 cities across India in promoting rural employment. Speaking to Telangana Today, Ajay Kumar informed that over 350 skilled Information Technology (IT) professionals have been working in reputed IT companies that have set up their branches here. Of the 350 professionals, around 223 are women and 138 men.
More than 14 companies operating within the IT hub have been instrumental in providing lucrative job opportunities for the local talent, he said while adding that he had recently submitted the first annual report of the IT Hub to IT Minister KT Rama Rao in Hyderabad.
The firms located at IT Hub in Khammam have been operating beyond the BPO mould and working on emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Full Stack, Microsoft Technologies and cyber security. “This is necessary to build its reputation as a world class IT hub that could deliver high end projects and establish Khammam’s position as a top-notch IT Hub among tier-2 cities” Ajay Kumar averred.
Skill enhancement has been one of the top priorities of the IT Hub-Khammam. Skill development programmes are being conducted by TASK to enhance the capabilities of the local talent pool and empower them to handle complex projects successfully. A single IT job in an organisation creates many supplementary job opportunities. For in instance a managerial position would require a driver, housekeeping-catering services and others. Hence for one IT position in Khammam IT Hub, four to five indirect jobs have been created, TechnoGen Inc CEO, Lax Chepuri explained.
