Khammam: Madhira AMC secretary suspended

Khammam: The special grade secretary of Madhira Agriculture Market Committee (AMC), K Chowdari Reddy, was placed under suspension for alleged violation of protocol during the inauguration of CCI cotton procurement centre at Madhira on November 9.
Sources said Madhira MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka was invited for the inauguration of CCI centre at 11.30 am on November 9. But before the MLA arrived at the venue, the programme was completed and the centre was inaugurated by the ZP Chairman L Kamalraj.
Annoyed at the violation of protocol, the MLA complained to District Collector RV Karnan about the incident and wanted action to be taken against the erring officials. A show cause notice was issued to the secretary on Nov 10 and he submitted his explanation on Nov 16.
The secretary maintained that the farmers and other public representatives insisted on inaugurating the centre at 11.30 am, which was said to be an auspicious time. The ZP Chairman and others arrived well in advance and the MLA had not arrived at the venue at the scheduled time.
Since there was a large gathering of farmers, fearing spread of Covid-19, the inauguration was completed and there was no intention to violate the protocol, the secretary added.
