Khammam: A 75-year-old woman was reportedly murdered after she resisted theft of her goats at Kodad cross roads in Khammam Rural mandal on Friday. The suspect was nabbed by the locals.
According to police, the woman Sk Jani Bi was living alone in a hut at Kodad cross roads rearing a few goats. The suspect K Venkanna of Suryapet district sneaked into her hut on Thursday night and tried to make away with three goats. The woman who noticed him stealing her goats tried to stop him.
Then the accused reportedly stabbed her in the stomach and chest with a knife leaving her dead on the spot and fled the scene. On Friday when he was selling the stolen goats to some traders at Gandhi Bomma Centre in Khammam, some of the buyers found that goats belonged to their friend Sk Rafi’s mother Jani Bi.
They immediately nabbed the accused and informed Rafi. Rafi and his friends went to Jani Bi’s house along with the accused and found the elderly woman in a pool of blood and informed the police, to whom they handed over the accused.
Based on Rafi’s complaint, Khammam Rural police booked a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
