Khammam: A father’s appeal, on the use of a helmet, during the funeral procession of his son at VM Banjar in Penuballi mandal in the district has moved everyone. It was said that Tejawath Sai (18) of Somlanaik thanda at VM Banjar village was involved in a road accident near Khammam bus stand on Jan 8. He died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad as the accident caused severe head injury.
The deceased youth’s father Tejawath Hari during the funeral procession was overcome with emotion at the death of his son. Yet making use of the occasion he wanted to send a message among the youth on the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike. Hari, standing next to the corpse of his son and holding a helmet in his hand, told the mourners that his son Sai could have been alive had he wore a helmet on the fateful day, on which he met with the accident.
He said “No child should be killed like mine. Everyone should wear a helmet while riding a bike”. The locals lauded Hari for trying to educate the people even in the grief of his son’s death. The incident gone viral on social media as the netizens shared it among them widely.
