Khammam: Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao has appealed to the NHAI to grant Rs 300 crore towards the repairs of highways damaged due to recent rains in Telangana.
He along with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials inspected Khammam-Aswaraopet national highway on Thursday. During his visit he spoke to the NHAI Chairman Sukhbir Singh Sandhu over phone and apprised the road’s condition to him.
The MP said around Rs 220 crores would be required to carry out repairs on national highways all over the state while Rs 80 crores would be required to repair national highways in Khammam Parliament constituency.
He inspected the road stretch at Penuballi and other villages on the highway. The MP took photos and captured the videos of the damaged roads and shared them with the NHAI Chairman Sandhu for immediate action.
The MP directed the NHAI officials to immediately launch road repair works. Delaying the repair works would cause inconvenience to the public. Large sized pot holes on the road would pose great danger to the lives of those travelling on the road, he worried.
The officials told the MP that estimations have been prepared and sent to the Centre for funds and as soon as the funds were released the works would be started. NHAI officials Janaki Ram, Divya and others accompanied the MP.
Later on the day the MP held a meeting with government officials at Aswaraopet and reviewed progress of development works.
